Overview
A Fusion Events and Backup Marketing collaboration on behalf of Tesco Ireland working with a community development organisation to bring the holiday spirit to life by transforming a street of houses into a magical Christmas Wonderland. The goal was to surprise a local resident (Sean) who fully decorated his house in lights to raise money for charity.
Tesco sent Sean away for a weekend break and while he was away Fusion Events converted the street into a Christmas themed street consisting of several Christmas themed houses, décor lighting, entertainment and festive treats. When Sean returned, he was unknowingly greeted by hundreds of neighbours and local residents in a fully immersive, interactive festive experience that delighted families, strengthened neighbourhood bonds, and provided an opportunity for local businesses to connect with the community. The marketing company filmed and edited the entire experience to create a Tesco Ad campaign that was shown in cinemas across the country and all social media platforms.

Concept & Planning
We developed a cohesive festive theme that blended classic Christmas nostalgia with modern interactive elements.
Key Elements of the Build: This outdoor custom designed Christmas build was designed to enchant visitors, foster to enhance engagement, we incorporated sound and audio for music, Christmas lights across seven houses including projection light mapping, fairy lights, snow tubes, along with various themes in each of the house’s driveways.
Christmas characters, carol singers, real reindeer and a dedicated team of over 30 event professionals made this experience one that will be talked in the neighbourhood for decades.
A Magical Neighbourhood Christmas Transformation
Collaboration with the neighbourhood to decorate their houses and keep the secret from Sean was fundamental to the brand activation’s success.


Execution
Our team coordinated with local authorities, homeowners, and vendors to ensure a seamless setup. We managed logistics, including lighting installations, sound design, and crowd/traffic control measures to optimise the flow of guests through the activation.
On the event day, the street transformed into a dazzling spectacle, attracting hundreds of visitors. Families explored the different themed houses, participated in activities, and shared their experiences on social media using a custom event hashtag.
